NSW: Students face background checks under Govt reforms

New South Wales parents will have to disclose any history of violence .. and sign permission
forms for background checks .. when enrolling their children in school.

News Limited papers report a growing threat to teacher safety has led to NSW government
plans for the most dangerous students to be sent home for tuition .. in addition to the
option of placement in behaviour schools.

The changes are part of Premier MORRIS IEMMA's respect and responsibility agenda following
more than 60 attacks on teachers in the past six months .. including several in their
own homes.

Education Minister CARMEL TEBBUTT says the measures will protect teachers.
