Qld: Ship arrives in Brisbane after fire
BRISBANE, Dec 10 AAP - A container ship off Queensland's coast that was set alight
has been towed to the Port of Brisbane.
The fire broke out in the ship's engine room about 1.30pm (AEST) on Thursday and was
extinguished by firefighters.
A 39-year-old crewman was winched from the burning ship, the Liberian-flagged Maersk
Duffield, on Thursday afternoon and flown to the Royal Brisbane Hospital suffering smoke
inhalation, but has since been released.
Authorities have since checked over the ship.
A spokeswoman for Emergency Management Queensland (EMQ) said any investigation was
now in the hands of the ship's owners.
The 281-metre vessel was travelling from Singapore to Brisbane.
